Records

Non-gridded data: time series, sites and profiles

The Records datasets hold data that are not on a grid: ice core series, greenhouse gases, global sea level, benthic δ18O stacks, orbital elements and insolation, relative sea level indicators, borehole temperature profiles, GPS uplift rates, point measurements of the surface mass balance, and freshwater fluxes by region. They are made from the original sources, like the gridded datasets, but not remapped: each product is one NetCDF file, or several (e.g. one per ice core), following the CF conventions for discrete sampling geometries (see Records format), with the sites, their coordinates and the data. Each NetCDF file has a text form next to it (.txt), for reading without a NetCDF library. They are not split by domain: a model reads a file and selects its sites.

Records are released on the domain Records, one package per dataset, and go to $FESMDATA_PRODUCTS/Records/<Dataset>/<Dataset>-<Product>[-<part>].nc and .txt (see Download):
